I was recently remind of this image by Dom at Duke photography, who took the image, while we were at a recent wedding showcase at the wonderful Carlowrie Castle. We shot it a while ago but I don’t think I have ever blogged it so am doing so now. It is such a wonderful image that captures the vintage feel of ‘Flm Noir’ perfectly. Is this a look you are considering for your wedding?
I met Lynne when I was recommended to her by her sister-in-law Gemma, who’s wedding I had done about a year before. Its always really lovely to get recommendations and follow up on brides. Gemma was one of Lynne’s bridesmaids so we had a good old natter and catch up as I did her makeup. I had such a lovely morning making up Lynne, her maids and her Mum ! It’s such a delight when everyone feels so comfortable with you, and you them, that you are fully accepted into the morning as just one of the family. Feel so privileged to have the job I do.
I just received these lovely photos from a wedding I did at Norton House Hotel in Edinburgh. It was a pretty hectic wedding morning. The girls were so lovely and I had great fun. I think you’ll agree they all look stunning. The one one of the bridesmaids seeing Natalie for the first time has to be one of my favorite photos of all time.
This is one of my favorite reactions caught on camera from the Mum of the bride from this wedding. I have to say that for me, apart from the bride, the Mums are my favorite to do. The most common thing I hear from the Mother of the Bride or Groom on the wedding day is ‘Oh you don’t need to worry about me, I just need a little’. It’s like they don’t want to be a burden on me or anyone else around! They are also a bit anxious about makeup as most of them will either not be makeup wearers or have a very set look. So when I have finished talking to them about how they would love to loo (usually younger) and then finished the makeup and I get a reaction like this I am over-joyed.
When Haley arrived for her trial she was in jeans and t shirt and told me she never wore makeup and was even a bit scared of it. You would never know that from this photo, she is the perfect natural bride.
There is something about Dalhousie as everytime I am there something happens to me. Janis’s wedding didn’t start too well as I managed to fall down a small flight of stairs banging my head quite hard but after a quick cup of tea all was well! We had a great morning catching up, as 7 years prior to this I had done Janis’s sisters wedding so it was all very relaxed and great fun!
